They do work well. I used one on my MR556 before I SBRed it. I have two other ARs set up with the brake and collar and the OCL one piece is much more versatile and convenient. The AEM5 is a boat anchor, and some say antiquated, but its my favorite can in my collection. Most people that hear it at the range, say its the quietest can they've heard, while running super sonic ammo.

I want an Allen can for my collection, a local shop had the otter creek can in stock so I jumped on it and went that route. I'd love to get my hands on an aem5-30 for my little collection.
