Hello all, starting to look at OWB holsters for range days and training purposes, but since I am new to the handgun game I was wondering what the recommended holsters might be. Currently own a Sig P226 and P227R.

My new favorite for all things holsters is Vedder.

A Safariland ALS (without the rotating hood) is a very nice range holster...and my personal favorite.

And if you go this route, the $25-ish OTD Nub Mod (if you google it will come up) is money VERY well spent.

You can pair the holster with either...

1) A Safariland low or mid ride UBL (belt mount) with a QLS fork for easy on/easy off, or a Safariland drop leg platform (w/QLS)

or

2) A G-Code RTI Drop Pistol Platform, or a "Mule" drop leg platform with whichever belt mount you prefer (Paddle, belt loops, or RTI). Safariland and G Code products are all interchangeable, you just need to get the right attachments.

Note too that G Code makes good holsters too and they're usually cheaper than Safariland. So you could either go with retention holster (rotating hood, they don't have anything like the Safariland ALS) or a regular non retention holster (no rotating hood).

Also the G Code Softshell Scorpion mag pouches are excellent and will fit just about every mag out there. They're very similar to Taco Pouches but the Scorpions are made from materials that won't absorb water if they get wet.

Hope that helps! :)
