Yeah, so I'm new here but not new to the internet, and was born and raised in Oregon....I moved back here after a divorce about twenty years ago when I was fooling around doing stuff in western NY state and bought a condo on the west side of the west hills....

One of the main reasons I wanted to come back to my home state was the shall-issue status of the state (ahem...no comment from me about the current situation), but finally stuck with an appointment for a CHL with the county sheriff. Plus just bought my first 1911-style handgun not long ago (RIA TAC Ultra HC FS) which has just been sitting at my place for a few weeks with a magazine full of dummy rounds (9mm).

My first 1911-style I've ever even held, and I'm liking the way she does.

My father lives out on the coast, so that's likely where I'll do most of my shooting, on BLM state forest, following all the rules and regs and all that. Would like to shoot more closer into town, but haven't locked into a range that suits me yet.

I live near Beaverton, but I work up near Delta Park, but I no quiero the WA gun laws and all that, so I prefer staying on my side of the river.

Doubtful I'll EDC the double-stack, but I have a nice leather paddle holster coming in about a month, so we'll see how that goes.

Welcome from r we gone . ;) Glad you're here . Feel free to share . There is much to see , learn and share here . With a lot of humor thrown in too . Enjoy the forum and all it has to offer . Blessings from down in the Valley from our bunker to you & yours . :)

Your 1911 is a beast and you will grow tired of the added weight in short order if using it as your EDC.

When you say "range" are you implying a gun club?
Yeah, even with the 9mm at 17+1, it's a heavy beast....chunky, I guess one could say. Concealing is not a problem, but the weight is, plus difficult sitting down and all that.

Yeah I guess by "range" I mean just somewhere to shoot, preferably outdoor range, you know, in town. I don't think those exist really on the west side so much.

One thing I liked about visiting my ex-father-in-law down in Lancaster, PA, despite that state having ridiculous blue laws, is that they had some outdoor ranges a short drive from him where you could just unload....no ammo checks, just set up a target and plug away.

I've never fired in an indoor range and am not too thrilled about being sweeped with somebody's muzzle two feet away from me.

Sure, gun club, I guess is how it's called.

Be good if there were some unas chicas muy bonitas there but I'm there to shoot first and have fun later.

Tri County Gun Club in Sherwood is a nice club. Multiple ranges for handgun and rifles including an indoor rimfire range as well as shotgun fields….

It's a private club and membership is required.

Cool! My highschool girlfriend lived out in Newberg, and even now I remember taking 99 out through Sherwood, although it's been a few decades!

That might be the best one yet!

Thanks!

New member, so don't have ability to do thumbs up reaction, but yes indeed I'll check them out.

/* EDIT I kind of like they've got an action range...which is unclear if they have a spot for trying out shoulder rigs....I'd rather have the option to practice drawing from my belt than not.....who knows if they'll "accept" me as a member, but might as well try, as I have. */
