New member needing help with selling inherited S&W 38

Hello all, It was recommended I join this community to get help with selling a Smith and Wesson 38 special. I really do not know a lot about this subject and hope I can rely on this community to help me learn how to safely and legally sell this handgun. I would like to do this right, for all concerned, and in respect for the relative who left it to me.

Where do I start?? What is the best way to determine a fair asking price? Thanks all in advance.

Find out as much as you can about the pistol. Then, as a quick WAG go onto www.gunbroker.com and do a search for the same firearm. This will give you a ball park.
