I just purchased a Marlin 1894 in .357. I took it to the range for its maiden voyage yesterday, my only real complaint may be ammo related. I was shooting flat nose .357 (all I had on hand) while loading the magazine the bullet wanted to dip to the center of the carbine stopping the shell from entering the magazine completely. pushing down on the rim of the shell while inserting allowed said ammo to feed in the tube. the rest of the experience was excellent. I had zero issues with the function of the carbine and fit and finish are very nice.

I've experienced many different Manufacturers of lever action 357 Mag experience feeding or cycling issue's when new, everyone I've played with has eventually worked it's issue out by just shooting it...

3 JM Marlins and a Chiappa Alaskan...

I'm attracted to the Rossi 357 with the 24" barrel for two reasons one to get rifle prefomance out of w- 296 loads with 180 gr bullets as compared to my 4" GP-100 and the other reason is to have a rifle that holds more than 10 rounds so I can thumb my nose at those who care about such things so I'm looking sooner rather than later.

A guy at the OAC show today had a Winchester '94 in .25-35. Thinning his colection and had several old guns he'd had for years. Daayum it was beautiful! 1908. Beautiful smooth dark brown patina on the octagon barrel. Crescent but plate. no rust, that I could see anywhere else. a small piece of wood out of the stock just in front of the receiver. He must have treated any rust that was on it. If it could talk there'd be some great stories.

I'm a sucker for case hardened frames and receivers lol.
