Well, you are almost at ground zero for silliness. Take some time and explore the east side of the state, there's (mostly) sane people over there. You'll probably find the climate more to your liking also.

Ditto what @NeoBlackdog said. The time I've spent out in Eastern Oregon has almost always been good. Used to live out in the middle of nowhere in those parts and loved it. The climate, the weather kind and more metaphorically speaking, is night and day from the wet side. (I haven't really done Salem since the pandemic years and can't say that I miss it.)

I lived in the College Station, Texas area, out in the country, and loved it there.

I was a forester in Southern Oregon, and I really liked it there.
