Howdy Gents,

I'm Gunner, from Dallas.
I've been shooting a while but I have a new AR10 in .308, and I am thinking about a vortex diamondback, FFP, 6X24X50 in MOA

I have the same but in MilRad mounted on a Tika T3 300 WSM. This rifle has a 10 MOA wedge on the rail to reach out a bit further.

Found a range near me that's 1400 yards.
Not so sure the same optic would be ideal (other than the $400 price tag, I like that) for the extra 400 yards.

I'm thinking of putting the MilRad on the .308 for 1000 yard and less shooting. And perhaps something above 24 magnification for the 300 WSM.

Or do you think the same optic would be fine? Can't beat the price and I do love the one I have. Just not sure if there's a better cost effective option.

Welcome to the forum. I too have that same model of Diamondback Tactical mounted on a long-range gun but I found another optic option that I also like maybe a bit better. I found it hard to find a bad review on it. It's the Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 with 8-34x56, FFP and illuminated reticle. Available on Amazon for under $400 ($386) if you go with the MIL option. For MOA option, it's about $441. Do some research on the Athlon scopes and try to find a bunch of bad reviews. Mostly find "best value for your money" and will compare with optics in the $1000-1200 range. Good luck with your decision!
