The item is the contact tip to a roofing nailer that's very worn down and expensive to replace so figured I'd ask around on here

I think you biggest problem is knowing what the specific alloy used to make the part, is.
This will be necessary to perform a correct weld.

Yes you need to know the material type and if it's a cast parts it can be a pain to weld

If you can find someone that can build it up with Stellite, or similar hard-facing, the alloy won't be as critical and it will wear a lot better. A shop that repairs heavy equipment, backhoes, front-end loaders, etc., should be able to fix you up.

I remember an old welder telling me when I was learning........"you can weld anything, until you know better"

I've got a tig welder that should be able to weld that. If it's cast it's tricky but 304 stainless or braze can stick. If it's forged than steel or stainless will work, SS shouldn't wear as fast.

The welding is easy, but the grinding/filing is the time consuming part. A tig weld is pretty clean though.
