well as an ex Custom Knifemaker myself I have no idea how you would expect to find out anything but from the maker himself. 1980 was well before the internet and even after the internet came along most knifemakers wouldn't be bothering with putting anything on line save maybe some sort of sales catalog. Also take into considerations 90% or more of knifemakers are part time or hobbyists so he may have only made knives for a short time and only made a very few.

I made knives for 14 years full time and only managed to make about 2500 knives I quit in Sept of 1996 and aside from maybe a few photos and once in a great while one showing up on eBay theres pretty much nothing about my knives on the net.

Out of my own morbid curiosity, why are you trying to find a knife maker from the 1980 date?

If that's the guy he sure wasn't making knives 44 years ago. So either the 1980 is not a manufacture date or you looking for a different Zac.
