Just watched "Das Boot" last night, fantastic movie. Anybody know a good read about WW2 u-boats vs the convoys? Maybe something in the style of Shelby Foote. I need some new books for sitting in front of the fireplace after hunting season finishes. Thanks

Was the movie you saw the "Director's Cut" version of Das Boot? If not, seek it out to rent! Netflix has it. The Director's cut is MUCH better, maybe an hour longer, with much more detail and characterization---it's like being there!

A couple of good book titles off the top of my head: "The Long Chase", "Wolfpack", and I think "The Cruel Sea" was a book as well as an excellent film. Harrowing days, extrordinary men doing impossible things. Good reading!............................elsullo
