The Shockwave is a Mossberg 590 with a 14-inch barrel and a Raptor birdshead-style grip in place of the shoulder stock. Supposedly it's not legally classified as a short-barreled shotgun by the ATF.
Anyone have one? Good home defense weapon? Might be in the market for one. Thanks

Those make for a great "truck gun", or a "back pack" gun... but for HD use my primary is a semi-auto M930 with an 18" barrel, extended magazine, and M9 pig-sticker.... 9 rounds of hell on earth, ready to spew as fast as I can pull the trigger.

I had a Shockwave without all the crap on it. It actually wasn't that bad with 2 3/4" slugs or 00 buck.

I sold it because I really had no justification to keep it, but it was a decent shooter.
I should mention that my HD shotgun is a 590 so I'm used to the model.

Mossberg 930 SPX 12 Gauge Tactical Shotgun?
There are a few different models.

Whatever flavor you like. My first M930 (pictured above) was a plain-Jane vanilla before I beefed it up...

It also has a tac-light on it now...

This is my 2nd M930 that came with two barrels.

One of which is a master-key breacher... :D

My point being.... there's a dizzying amount of configurations you can go with... :s0155:

I put some skate board tape on the birds head grip. I added a Crimson Trace green laser I had. I
see Crimson Trace makes a Lasersaddle for the Shockwave. The Shockwave holds 8 "Minis" in the mag tube.
Added an adapter to shoot "Minis". In bear country I had it loaded with Mini slugs.

I finally thought of a use for a Shockwave. As an under the counter gun in a convenience store. I have seen too many videos where the shop owner grabs a pistol under the counter and trades rounds with robber(s).

The Shockwave would give a greater chance for an instant stop without the flash and louder crack of an AR pistol.
