Midwest Industries and US PALM have collaborated on a new series of handguard kits for the fore ends of AK family weapons. They are specifically designed to mount the Trijicon RMR series. This allows for a lower 1/3 co-witness with your stock sights just like the Ultimak system.

This is a solid compact way to get your optics and sights to co-witness with the advantage of a strong US Made hand guard. The system has additional rails to add accessories, or simply to cover with rail protectors for a solid rail free grip.

This was mounted on a Demo rifle only. Never fielded or fired. No optic was ever mounted on it. It comes with a very spiffy set of Sure Fire ladder rail guards that have been custom cut to fit these rails. The top cover on this model fits the Trijicon RMR, but you can order different top covers from midwest industries with plain rail, scope mount, or specific to the optic of your choice. They all are designed to fit this lower hand guard.

The optic specific top cover can be switched out with plain, railed, or a different optic specific cover. They all will mate with this lower hand guard. Here is the link:
