This is the Marlin Model 1895 in the trapper configuration and big loop lever. This rifle is based on the same platform as the Marlin 1895 SBL and boasts a shorter, more maneuverable 16" barrel, a bead-blasted, satin stainless finish for low glare in the field and rapid acquisition with the adjustable Skinner Sights receiver-mounted peep sight system. This rifle was made in mid-2018, toward the end of Remington's involvement in the Marlin brand. The fit and finish of the gun is excellent.
The original black stock was replaced with a nice walnut stock and the original lever was replaced with a Ranger Point Precision lever which has a slightly slimmer profile than the factory lever. The stock shows a few minor blemishes from a hunting trip (see photos). I've put about 100 rounds through this rifle and the action is smooth and it feeds and shoots reliably.
