This is a nearly all NPM correct WWII carbine. The only parts that are not NPM are those that were replaced during re-arsenal after the war. Very interestingly this carbine went through the Mt. Ranier Ordinance Depot at Ft. Lewis, WA as noted by the MR stamp on the left side of the butt stock.. This carbine is NOT import marked.
All of the NPM parts are correct type for the serial number. The SN dates it as being built in the very early months of 1944, so it was completed mid way through the last block that NPM built. These carbines still had some of the early components like push safeties and flat bolt but the later production T3 low wood stock is correct for it. The parts that were replaced during the re-arsenal process were the T3 barrel band, magazine catch and T2 rear sight. Somehow, this one retained the push safety.
It is overall in pretty nice shape. There are some dings and nicks in the NPM stock as is to be expected but no cracks. The "NPM FJA" and crossed cannons ordinance stamps are still visible. The patina of the metal components seems to match pretty well which suggests that they may all be original to this carbine. The bore is nice and the muzzle gauges at 2. The crown is excellent. NPM is one of the lowest production manufacturers and made only 413, 017 out of over 6.1 million. Overall this is a very nice example that somehow managed to stay original other than the arsenal upgrade parts.
I will include an original GI 15 round magazine, reproduction magazine, reproduction magazine pouch and sling for the $1,750 price.
If you saw what the mixmaster import marked ones sold for lately from Midway and Royal Tiger Imports, you know this is a fair price.
