Thanks, but I just want to look up one serial number range.
I don't have any other use for the book. It was my hope
that some collector here on Northwest might have one
and would be kind enough to tell me what approximate
year the revolver was manufactured. I know that it was
made between 1893 and 1909, I would just like to
narrow the age down a little.
But thanks anyway for the heads up.

Thank you. I looked at this article earlier. Unfortunately, it does not
answer my questions. It is primarily addressing the serial numbers
as related to Iver Johnson shotguns and later numbering sequences.
My revolver has no leading letter in the serial number. Actually,
no letters at all. In addition, the serial number is on the butt of the
gun and not behind the hand grips as in some later revolvers.
It is interesting that many IJ revolvers have two numbers. One
visible on the outside surface and another second/different
number hidden beneath the grips. There is some indication that
the factory considered the "hidden" number the serial number.
The two numbers do not match. It would be interesting to see
what the book says about the two numbers, but.....

Finally, mine has the flat trigger spring and not the coil spring of
later models. These factors, I believe, place it in the 1893 to 1909
time period. I have been told that the book could possibly answer
whether or not I am correct and could even place the actual date
of manufacture. Supposedly, it has the only nearly complete and
accessible table of Iver Johnson serial numbers for revolvers of
this period. However, again, thank you very much for pointing me
at this on line resource.
