An hour of shop time will cost more not including materials. Are you sure it's .5mm pitch. That seems very fine for such a large diameter. What is it for?
Yes 0.5 pitch.

Working on a prototype and trying to reuse as much of the original parts as possible and this is one of them.
 
I looked around my sources, and a special thread like that would cost much more from any other tap manufacturer. Amazon is the best bet.
 
If $65 is more than you're willing to pay for a factory made, shipped to your door tap, your project is either not very important or you grossly underestimate what shop rates to make a custom one would be...

Every project is important and I've already spent more than expected to get this far. I don't run a business and I don't have unlimited funds. Just trying to cut cost where I can.

Plus I mentioned that this can be aluminum and I can source the raw part if necessary. I just don't have the machine to do it. Was hoping to find a hobbyist among the group.
