Expect to make many phone calls and receive no return calls over the course of several months before you find somebody to not show up several times after saying they will. This will put a strain on your marriage versus trying to do it yourself.

I've done all my own electrical. You get the permit and they inspect it/sign off on it if all is good. 99% of what you need to know can be found on the internet.

Most of the electrical inspectors were really helpful when something needed to be changed.
