Hi all,
I'm looking at starting a part time instructing gig to teach people how to shoot. I've started putting together curriculums and I've got a place to teach and shoot as well. I've taught plenty in the past but not as an official paid gig. Since I'm looking to move that route one of the things I'm looking at is getting liability insurance. I was wondering if anyone has provider recommendations. If you're an instructor or run a range who do you recommend and what are your experiences, good and bad, with them. Any insight is appreciated!

Lockton, Delta Shield, Chiarello are industry go-to's...NRA used to offer its own insurance for instructors, but I divorced the NRA years back.

Look into forming an LLC. You definitely should separate your business assets from your personal assets if this becomes your primary source of income.

I went with Lockton. Not the cheapest by any means, but probably the best service (if you need it).

Yeah that's for sure. I have another income stream that I've done that with. If I get enough business it's definitely the route I'll go. Not looking forward to taxes though. Gonna have to finally hire a CPA.

And that's good to know about lockton. I think I'd rather pay a little more and have a good working relationship instead of having to fight with an insurance company. Done too much of that already.
