It's a Magpul rubber one, super comfy and great ergonomics, even for my super large hands. It was on there when I got this rifle in 2003 and just recently realized it was a Magpul.

I'm an AK guy myself.. however I've been getting more into the AR variant platform as of late.

I think you went a little overboard on the feed ramps in the upper. Should be about a 3/16 inch wide and a 1/32+ deep. That's .180X.040.

Use some aluma black or super blue to finish the surface, both use the same chem, selenium dioxide.

That's an Ergo grip, distribution through Tapco as of last year. MAGPUL did not make a rubber coated grip until 2011. Still a very nice grip!

Yeah I for sure took some meat off. The rounds were getting shoved really low below the chamber. They now have a ramp that starts a little lower.

Does that seal the metal?

I'm not sure as it was on it when I got it. I swear it has the Magpul "M" though.

You might like the magpul B.A.D lever and the BCM gunfighter charging handle... I personally liked the one with medium latch..... probably a $70 (not including S&H) upgrade and worth it in my opinion.

I doesn't seal the aluminum like the coating it receives when new but it well stop it from corroding and it well look a lot nicer.

B.A.D. lever with the BCM CH is a great combination. Great lite-weight set up.
