The factory cut is not as desirable as a custom precision cut.
It's a sacred, ancient ceremony...

I just sent a slide to get milled by Maple Leaf Firearms LLC in Texas. Can't wait to get it back.

Just sent another slide to JagerWerks for milling. Much better than MOS! JagerWerks does a much better milling job than in the OP's picture!

I had the rear dovetail cut in front of the optic cut, in the picture of my G20 but have found little need for it.

My upcoming slide will be race cut with no rear dovetail. I will be installing a Vortex Venom that has marks on the rear that act as a rear sight in the event of battery failure.

This is my first slide done by them. But their reviews are super good. Way faster turn around. And they offer 50.00 dollars off optic cuts for LE/Military. So my cut is 75.00 dollars with the extra 50.00 for black nitride. I'll post a photo once it gets back to me.

I am very pleased. The picture of my G20 was done by JagerWerks. I simply shipped them the complete slide. They dissembled it, cut it, Cerakoted it, reassembled it, and sent it back to me in four weeks, for $175. That was about a year ago.

Things have changed. I sent them another slide last week and am informed the turnaround time could be 12 weeks. I figure a lot of people know of their fine work.

I prefer to do my own so I can control the tolerances of the fit then the boys at Buster Beavers Design do the cerakote they are great and do fantastic work.
Most manufactures are nice enough to send you the footprint of the optic so you can do a perfect fit.
I've some done by Jagerwerks and others and their quality is very good.

I thought that too when I first saw the photo. I don't know if seeing the trails to every pass of the bit is normal. I also don't know if it's NOT normal. My Zev has no marks like that.

Normally good machine shops don't want any tooling to show.
