I was gifted an old sears gun which is a private lable Marlin 81. Im looking for a stock for it, as this is cracked in half and missing the safety assembly. Was just needing so help finding it. This is from around 1950.

Thank you

A straight crack like that is easily repairable with epoxy and stock repair screws. You can get the screws from Brownells. They are actually thin brass, shanked rods you install with a hand drill after you glue and clamp the crach. Cut flush when the glue dries. Refinish normally if needed.

For parts like that, it is hard to beat Gun Parts Corp. They have a huge inventory of parts for firearms, young or old.

Yeah, I'd fix this stock, or at least I would investigate the possibility of doing it. Hopefully you can find the safety parts, cuz these are good guns.
This one is from the 40's, most likely post war. It's been in the family since new. Grandpa bought it. I rescoped it, but tucked the old Weaver away.

eBay has a lot of Marlin 81 stocks to choose from, plus the safety assemblies.
For under a hundred bucks you could get it up and running.

Boyds and Stockys occasionally make a run of Marlin stocks. Sometimes you have to wait till they have enough orders to make a run. the other is Richards Microfit. and they make them to order. The Richards stocks are inletted but not finished, so they need to be sanded and finished. But they make really nice custom stocks. the other way is Marlin made millions of these. there are lots of parts guns out there. Good Luck DR
