for the Hurricane

The cone of unpredictability has the eye over my dad's house on Monday at 8am.
Homosassa

Just a Hurricane, H, instead of Major Hurricane M.

Being stubborn, he is wanting to ride it out - in a shelter if he can't stay at home - but he doesn't want to leave. He is 91 on his last birthday.
No gasoline near him, when he was out yesturday.

Thanks,

My friend RJ and his family are in Englewood:

We're hunkering down, and going to ride this hooker out! Folks wanting us to evacuate need to remember, you run from flooding and storm surge, and hide from wind! The majority of fatalities during a hurricane, are from water - not wind. The roads have been, and will continue to be blocked for the remainder of this event ~ over the entire state, and the states immediately North of us. There is no forecastable "safe place" from here to Virginia!!!

The hurricane itself is not the worry for us here in Charlotte County, it's a possible storm surge if it tracks any more Westerly. As long as we can stay to the West of the eyewall, we'll be fine! Being without electricity for days/weeks/months is my only true fear.

Just pray for us, our families, our friends, our pets, our horses, and to a lesser degree, our belongings. People matter more than stuff...

God Bless And Protect Us This Weekend!

Spoke with my dad this morning. Storm went thru about 10pm last night - and this morning he is without power ( his POTS phone works ) Minimal damage in his neighborhood - like what might be expected in any thunderstorm.

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes.

I have family and friends in the Ocala area. Brother called yesterday and said they had no rain but we're expecting it to hit today and I'm sure it plowed through there today & is now up to Albany Georgia where my other friends just moved from Tampa a month ago.
This right here is just one of the many reasons I fled from the South...

May those affected by this, weather the storm and get life back to normal.
