I would mention we have this large Woodland ant colony to dispose of things, like dead raccoons, coyotes and other intruders, but others on this forum told me that was inappropriate
their mound is at least 2' tall
just another natural feature of a forest in the NW

Yeah, I have a healthy odor ant colony on my property. When my cats get a bird, mouse or rat, I'll toss the carcass in their patch and it will be picked clean within two days. God's clean-up crew.
