This was in my dad's stuff. No clue how he got it. Best guess, from my Uncle who was in England during WW2.
 
Looks like a WWII German Army Officers dagger...Also looks like the pommel is missing.
The Army wasn't too keen on the Nazi party or swastika , so its the most understated of Third Reich Daggers.

The pommel is indeed missing. I put the strap strategically as some are offended by the imagery. The knife is not sharpened. A few dents in the the scabbard.

Andy nailed it. If you do an image search for "Heer Dagger" (heer = 'German Army"), you'll see plenty of cousins. Look around for the pommel though, it screws on, couldn't have gone far.
