I have heard that the Detective Specials are not +P rated so you might want to research that if it will be a carry gun and you use those loads.

6 rounds in the cylinder is the biggest difference.

Your not in a bad situation,your just gaining a little wisdom.I have both a colt detective special and a chiefs special.And Id rather shoot the colt.It just seems to have a better fit and feel.It seems to have just a tiny bit more meat to it,probably because of the 6th round.And it just shoots great.I mean really great.I can hit a 6 in circle at 30 yrds all day long.It has a slightly thicker cylinder then my chief but over all I think the colt is slightly smaller.The colt in my opinion is way the better gun.In fact Id say from my experiance that there is no better snubnose then a colt!...Robin

Keep shooting it. You'll quickly loosen the timing and then when you try to find a good gunsmith to get it retimed, you'll go back to shooting the S&W. Colt's are great guns when they work, but when they go, damn, it's an expensive mess...
