I am guessing it to be 7.62x39. Does it. Take standard AK mags?

Yes. Sorry. 7.62x39. All standard mags fit with no issue, no wobble. Nice fit.

I've tested hungarian, polish, yugo and the tapco mags. I haven't tested Russian, Bulgarian, and German. I assume they are a go though.

Perhaps worth noting that it is capable of shooting while folded. Quite comfortably even. And the folder clears the magazine.
