5 years ago, i shipped a 1911 and my old Ruger SP101 out for trigger work
I checked this week and UPS, FedEx and USPS only allow FFLs to ship pistols today
what FFL is anyone using in Clark Co and how much were you charged
FedEx used to charge $45 for a pistol

Handguns, for as long as I can recall, couldn't be shipped via USPS unless one had an FFL. UPS and FedEx new(er) policies are farcical, but what do you expect from operations circling the drain.

To answer the question; a good FFL will handle this for a small fee. I did that with a local shop that, alas, is now shutting down due to Oregon's BS laws. Beyond that, ShipMyGun makes it pretty easy and you can drop it off at a participating FFL.

If you are shipping one out for gunsmithing ask the gunsmith if they will supply you with a label for FEDUP or UPS. Put them in a case with the work order and a copy of your DL. If they will, box it all up and use their label. I stopped telling someone at the shipper what it was but they didn't care, so neither did I. Decided it was giving out too much info when I didn't need to.

I've had good service using Ship My Gun.

^^^^ This is the way.

In fact, it's about the ONLY way at this point unless you're shipping your gun to an FFL for service and they're willing to issue you a shipping label, or you can find a random FFL who will ship it for you.

The Republicans should have been all over this nonsense the second that it started. It's part and parcel to the de-banking crap that the left has been doing to gun businesses, etc. But the GOP is freaking worthless.

The only issue I found with Ship My Gun wasn't with SMG, but the out of state guy who bought a handgun from me, who insisted on using an FFL who wasn't on SMG's preferred FFL list, even though there were other FFL's near him that were already vetted for accepting shipments from SMG.
It held things up for over a week until his FFL sent his license paperwork over to SMG and then things went right along.
