How to clear photos from folder

Help.
After I close an ad I can delete the photos but they stay in the mail folder and take up space. Can a Moderator clear these? Any suggestions?
I tried to reopen closed ads and re-insert the photos and then deleting them but no change.

start in forum actions, then click general settings, then attachments on lower left, select desired to be deleted, click delete at bottom.

Thanks for the reply. In my case I show four attachments that total 436.2KB. The tracker shows I am using 641.8KB. I can see all 25 photos I have used this
month but I can't access them to delete them. The message is "asset not currently being used by any content that you have access to".
Seems like it would eat up a bunch of server space.
