A while back I was looking into having a revolver engraved. In the course of doing research on famous artisans I stumbled upon something I've never heard of before: Hobo Nickels. Having a very short attention span, I soon forgot about engraving the revolver and now I cannot get these nickels out of my head.

The history, art, and potential stories attached to these things has me interested in possibly starting a collection. Who knows, maybe something else will get my attention soon, but for now I'm hooked.

Yep - it's an odd, offbeat artform but well known in the coin/treasure hunter circles. Another somewhat unknown (and probably as rare) reworked items are dice made from carved Minie Balls during the Civil War.
