Hey all,
Been lurking for a while, but thought I should finally sign up.

I've got a growing collection (anything you think I have to get before potential OR 114 lockdown?), 12 handguns (about to be 13 on Thursday!), 7 rifles, and 1 12GA (maybe another soon!).

I love everything Powered By Explosions (and have a very small YT channel to that effect and name haha), so also into sports cars, motorcycles, SeaDoos, and about anything powered by an explosion - so naturally guns fell into the mixture eventually.

Still working on my flinch with the larger calibers (wasted a lot of time and money putting aftermarket sights on my Tisas 1911A1 because I kept shooting way low - DOH!)

Welcome from r we gone . ;) Glad you're here . Feel free to share . There is much to see , learn and share here . With a lot of humor thrown in too . Enjoy the forum and all it has to offer . Blessings from the Valley from our bunker to you & yours . :)

Ahh thank you Xaevian and 64MurcurysRule! And likewise well wishes and happy holidays!

Seen a lot of good discussions on here in my lurking time and happy to actually engage with everyone!

Here's a picture of the 1911 collection so far. Any guesses what the most reliable one of that bunch has been?

Welcome to the greatest firearms forum on the interwebs. We're like a large dysfunctional family here. Lots of knowledge and experience to be found, as well as some intense humor. Looking forwards to your contributions.

Welcome Derekcat that's a nice collection of 1911's !
They look pretty fancy pistols
Is the green grip pistol a Colt ? Collecting these pistol's turns into a sickness I am warning you , They are like a box of chocolates and you just won't be able to stop 😂

...(anything you think I have to get before potential OR 114 lockdown?)...
Standard capacity magazines for firearms you might buy in the future. Tough to say what those might be. However, if you "think" you might have a future interest in a platform, may be worthwhile.

Simplest examples would be common platforms. Glock, Sig, CZ, Walther, AR15, AR10, AK etc.

Note: many pistol caliber carbines can accept Glock magazines. As a way oversimplified example. Even if you never intend to own a Glock handgun. Perhaps you may wish to own a Glock magazine compatible PCC someday.

Welcome. Get any standard capacity (high cap) mags you need now or for any guns you may want in the future.

Also, get some high cap mags for guns like @Camelfilter listed because in times of scarcity of things like ammo, tp, etc. you can barter with them.

During the pandemic I traded ammo that I wasn't going to use to my tax attorney for services rendered (cheap lead Remington 22LR that would have cost around forty bucks prior to Covid) for a bill costing a few hundred dollars. And he was thankful.

Also traded about QC bucks of cheap 22LR for a 36 roll pack of TP during that time, when the stores were all wiped out👍

Ah to be young and exuberant again, instead of old and jaded. There are several classic threads here on the 1911, they might be a good place to start. I note that several of yours have naked rails too, might want to check out the WML threads as well. That will never end badly. You should have a ton of fun here!

Wow lot of replies!

Thank you! The green grip is the Tisas 1911A1 with a Zombie Green Hogue grip and some fiber sights added.
haha I know what you mean.. I may or may not be picking up a couple more 1911s here shortly XD

Ahh yeah! I've got a good collection of mags for almost everything I have right now (need to buy a couple more for one gun), and I picked up a couple ETS 32rd Glock mags in case I grab an Extar (Tried my friend's out and it was really fun!). CZ, Walther, and AR10 are good call outs - thank you for the suggestion!

haha well, I'm a lot more jaded than I use to be, but I'm trying not to go all the way :)
Ooh I'll check out the WML threads - I know HF has a knock off light that was supposed to be a surprisingly good value.
Check out Northwest Armory on 99w down from Bimart ..... Nice selection of new and used . Tigard pawn might have deals as well . :)
I haven't been to NW Armory in a minute, I should stop by again. The Bi-Marts are a regular stop (I'm still shocked how they can beat even bulk ammoseek prices sometimes!), and Pawn4More's employee's remember my name now haha.
But definitely all good places to visit regularly!

Thank you again everyone for the welcome messages!

Extar is pretty fun & an excellent price point!

Stribog is fun-er, however double the price point. Have a regular one, + CZ Scorpion mag lower & the newer Glock mag compatible one…

As far as Glock stick mags go, ETS is OK. Haven't tested them over time. Not liking ther plastic, have a feeling they will shatter over time.

KCI Glock stick mags (& Glock stick mags), haven't have any issues with…metal wrapped in plastic…

I vastly prefer PCCs with some sort of delay locking mechanism. They shoot way nicer than direct blowback. Granted direct blowback are usually far cheaper (H&K models notwithstanding) the nicer recoil is worth the price in my opinion. The Stribog is one of the more affordable models with a lockup and comes highly recommended. They suppress well too.
