Although it is a screw build, it could still be a great running AK. Having it rebuilt with rivets would be a recommended step, but the screws may hold up just fine for a very long time. Screw builds are generally looked down on, but a lot of competent AK builders have had no problems with them.
The big downside is that you can still find factory-made FEG Hungarian AMD-65s on the market. They were selling new just last year, and you can still find them NIB in a few places. These are straight from the factory in Hungary, and include the necessary extended muzzle device to make the gun legal (non-SBR). They have the correct length barrel underneath the extension - if you were to move out of WA and get the form 1, you can return the FEG to its original state easily.
The big question is, how is the bore condition? Some AMD-65 kits were virtually unfired, and the chrome-lined, hammer-forged barrel will be like new and will last for tens of thousands of rounds without any noticeable accuracy loss. Then, some of them were donated to ANA/ANP and Iraqi police. Some of these were severely busted up, though I'm not sure how many of those made it into parts kit form and back to the US.
