Talos Tactical in West Richland, or Hole in the Wall in Kennewick charge $25 to transfer. Remember that if it's from an FFL, they have to charge sales tax, from an individual, they do not have to charge sales tax, no matter if it is a face-to-face transfer or shipped in.

Rattlesnake Ordanance ([email protected]) is a very small operation and they charge $10.

Hole In The Wall is where I had been doing business and where I had the firearm transferred... they will no longer be receiving my business. Thanks for the comments and recommendations...

What's the going rate for gun Transfers here in the PNW, I'm in Tri-Cities and just got beat over the head for $54 for a competed transfer. If you have or know of someone in tri-cities who's reasonable, please pass it along. I'm new to the region, first transfer here.

Certainly my fault for not checking the transfer price prior to transfer, but I definitely feel taken advantage of. Had a pocket full of money to buy a revolver I'd been drooling over and needed ammo for the weekend. Took my business elsewhere after being floored by the transfer fee...

Win some, lose some....

123 Pawn in Walla Walla, $25 if I remember correctly. Good guys to work with. Good prices on new guns too. Have bought and sold several through them.

Ranch & Home on the Oregon side only charges $20 for the transfer plus the $10 OSP Background Check fee. I don't know what the Kennewick store charges.

Do i understand that when you guys buy a gun from a gunstore whether new or used you then have to pay the store for the transfer?
Yes and in Oregon and Washington any gun you buy from anyone has to go through a dealer it's a newer law about 1 year in OR and a couple of years in WA.

In Oregon they would not know if you do not comply. On guns made after the law it would be easier for the state to check IF they had contact with you and ran the serial number and new when the gun was made..

I see, i wonder what would make them check? I also cant believe a actual gun shop would do the transfer free as an incentive to buy from him. Not for firearms not purchaced from him but for his sales. Any gunshop here would fail quickly having a charge for transfers of shop sales

If we buy a gun from a "Gun Store", pawn shop, etc we only pay for the back ground check....$10.00...On top of the price of the gun. If I am going to buy a firearm from a private individual, OR, have a gun shipped to the FFL holder from, say, gun broker, then that is when a "Transfer Fee" of $20.00-$75.00 (in some cases), which includes the back ground check, occurs. All legal transactions get IDs of both buyer and seller along with serial # of the firearm. So basically these transactions could be used, and/or considered a form of firearm registration.

Ok, i see now. Those background checks are just a phone call here free to do

In Oregon the FFL holder calls the State Police for the back ground check, (BGC), that costs the $10.00. In Washington the FFL calls the NICS, "National Instant Check System". As I understand, there is no $10.00 fee in Wa. State added to the price of the gun from the dealer. I imagine that your state is like Wa. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on something here I would imagine.

20 bucks at my Oregon city FFL.

That's what I charge here.
Active duty and Coppahs get theirs on the house. I'll never get rich doing this, but that was never the intent. Incidentally the majority of the leos insist on giving me something, and that's ok too but it's just my way of paying it forward.

Don't deal with Fisherman's! They charge $40-45 and even though the seller should be able to walk away after handing over the gun and showing ID, they don't want to put it in their book and will make the seller wait for completion of transfer.

F-them. They wasted an hour and a half of mine when I should have spent 10 minutes there. Actually, that now plays into how much of my time and money I spend in the store.

It's not out of line to pay $25-30 for a transfer, especially if the seller can drop the gun and go.
So here is the real deal, Fishermans charges $10 for the background check and $35 for the transfer you are required by law to stay until the transaction is complete and Fishermans is required by law to log the gun and the sellers address into their books. You need to stay on the premises because what would happen if the buyer is delayed or denied? what if the gun was a stolen firearm? That is why you have to stay. Any FFL that is letting you drop the gun off is NOT following the law.
As far as anyone being upset at a retailer for providing this service you should just remember that it was YOUR government that did this to you
