It seems weird that that much of the finish is gone. Does the metal look like it's been sanded or polished away?

Either chemical or mechanical removal of the bluing for sure. Stock looks like its been refinished as well. For $250 those items can be addressed for a shooter.

I'm not sure what happened to the original finish, it was in this condition when I got it. The stock is most likely the original finish, it just looks odd in the photos. The gun was in storage covered in grease for the last 20+ years.
