If there's one thing that outrages me about our justice system, it's this. Nobody should have to spend that long in jail awaiting trail, no matter the circumstance.

Deep into the article, it sounds like there's a bunch more to this story...
His niece is a known prostitute, being arrested in front of their home.
He knew she was a prostitute yet effectively condoned the illegal activity.
I do agree with @Tarawa86 that justice delayed is justice denied. Will he be able to sue for lost wages, mental anguish, damage/loss of reputation etc.?
Sounds like there's enough blame to share all around...

Even deeper into the article - two sheriff deputies were clients of her prostitution.

So on one hand - they come to arrest the prostitute, who is engaged in that activity with deputies from the same sherrifs' office as those who tried to arrest her.

Bet that was really embarrassing when that came to light.
