I believe in giving Christmas presents to people with whom I work, clients and colleagues alike.
My boss, who is also a friend, jokes about it every year when I give him his. We call it, "my kiss-bubblegum gesture."
Some years I give him ammunition, some brass, knives, etc.
This year, I wrote in his card, "What do you give a Marine who has everything?" (there's no such thing as an ex-Marine).
In the box, he'll find two P-Mags.

This year, will also be giving my brother his first AR and my son his first rifle. Good times. :)

Ugh, you're that guy. I hate that guy because then you feel obligated to get something in return. I don't even get my wife a Xmas gift but now I have to get something for my coworker;).

Buying my son TRUGLO TFX Pro sights for his Ruger American and giving him one of my Moisin's that he like so much.

Bought myself a Fort Knox Guardian for Christmas...does that count?

Im gonna order a $4.99 12ga choke tube wrench for myself when I order the kids BF a pocket knife.

The longer they are together the more I spend on the knife but the one I found this year is still under $20 so it's affordable for me (well, not outrageous at least). I've done the same thing for his birthday so I guess it's a thing now.

I don't do gifts with my friends anymore except a couple that have younger kids.

Co-workers set up some $10 secret Santa thing and I felt obligated to participate but no gun or knife stuff would fly where I work.

I'm not writing any of this stuff to boast - nor to be "that guy." I like giving, and for the most part, money runs through my hands like water.
I was feeling good about wrapping his present and writing the card. I respect the man and am lucky to call him friend.
My kids always asked me if Santa exists, and I tell them, Santa Claus is a symbol representing kindness and generosity in man.
I then add, "Bruder Klaus Stadeli did exist and was canonized a saint." (as told to me) Supposedly the Stadeli clan in Silverton are direct descendants.
@Flymph , acts of kindness and generosity do help - and toys are even more awesome! Hope you get your P229!

#1 son is getting a handed one of the knives I have carried for the last 20+ years. I'm having benchmade rebuild it. It's a pre production AFCK.
#2 son and I will be finishing his AR15.
#3son is getting a new bow.
#4 son is getting his first scoped rifle. A savage in .17 hmr.
Wife is getting a couple new mags and a holster for her Walther.
And I am getting a gym membership to work on my guns.

I shoot with and learn much from two older gents at the range most-every Monday; we have a phenomenal pay it forward going on between us...

I'm buying each of them one of those 36" long gotcha tools with rubber cups so, they can pick up brass without bending over.

Don't want to launch a tangent about Harbor Freight, but I get them there for $8.00 (with 20% off coupon :D).

My wife makes it too easy... she shops for herself, wraps her own presents, puts from me on the tag, and pretends to be surprised when she opens them... The one gift I did actually buy her this year(besides the .32 mag revolver and new custom handbag she is already carrying it in) she pried and pried at me to make sure I got it, and I had to tell her so she didn't order it herself...

When I was a little kid ...I'd get a box or two of .22 ammo and a fishing lure in my stocking...that memory always brings a smile...:D

Nowadays its making or engraving a powder horn ...re-hafting a knife for friends kinda thing...
Its too bad that the spirit of giving is mostly relegated to the Christmas season...

As far as reciprocity for gift giving...Speaking only for myself , I ask for no gift in return...just a "Thank you" and the knowledge that you will actually use the item....

I used to get the best Christmas present from Dad.
When I was in High School and unable to buy my own ammunition, Dad's present was a brick of .22LR wrapped in underwear. Dad said' "Look, a box of Long Rifles wrapped in Shorts!" :D

Man, I miss that guy.

It's not what you give or get, it's the people you love who make Christmas.

Now THAT'S my kinda humor right there! :s0108:

Occasionally the wife will give me something firearm related, though most of what I want, I buy myself. One of my favorite gifts growing up though was when I was 14 and got a Marlin Model 60 from my father - still have that gun today. My first real firearm. I'd do something similar for my daughter if and when she shows and interest. For now, she's received 2 kids bows, so that's a start in the right direction.
