That was good.
Call me a luddite but that is EXACTLY the way I see AI.
As I have said, and he also said, LLMs are just word replacement/completion machines - they don't really understand anything. They are useful, more and more useful as their models improve, but not intelligent.

They have been around for years, I used them when I was writing code, and I am using one right now to help me type in this post. There are crude ones and really sophisticated ones, but they are not cognizant - not aware, not intelligent - although they seem like they are.

The AI dev world is headed for a collapse. There will be a few that survive, and some that won't (I expect OpenAI will probably be absorbed by Microsoft, and xAI, which is bleeding $1B/month might go away), Google will probably come out on top. Not sure about Anthropic

IMO, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence - quite different from LLMs) will be very slow to develop - it will probably be another couple of decades before we see something in common use. By that time I probably won't be around, and if I am, I probably won't be able to recognize it.

My son believes this as well. He has urged me to get my investment money out of Amazon and Facebook. I moved half of it a month ago into an international stock fund just in case that's heavily invested in tech like semi-conductors. They're not going anywhere as we use them every day.

If Musk has his way with his IPO and you have $ typical retirement funds, you may want to watch this:
