You mean the stuff that my food eats, of course not.
Well if you make it up this way, we can grab some bqq and bacon salad.
From what I can find all of the GOOD BBQ places in the Portland area are gone. The place on East Burnside that was family owned seems to be gone and the place out in Beaverton or was it Hillsboro is gone. Lots of faux BBQ places that used to be in and around Downtown and just slightly East of MLK, but I was making home made BBQ before any of them was out of messy diapers. So, I'd rather make my own and bring it along.

The place I went to in Reno was the Carolina Kitchen on Glendale (So good, I was jealous of how good it was)
and in Eugene there used to be a place called "The Hole in the Wall" that was the best in Oregon for several years, then they started making less good cue.
I started making BBQ in the 1960's with my Dad. Ribs, Brisket, chicken, Pork butts for pulled pork, Cajun sausage, Andouille, Boudins, more.
I now have three homemade sauces, five rubs and once had three smokers that cold easily cook 100 pounds of meat. Hickory, apple, birch smokes.
I have a brine for Salmon and know enough to use a fresh cedar board for cooking it on. I used to make jerky and slim jims.
I got too old to do it and my wife never really enjoyed it as much as me. Now I have to either make it just for me (and of course you know my waist line just needs more encouragement to expand) or go and taste the sorry excuses that passes for Millennials BBQ.

The worst part of all of it: not the first child or grandchild that cares to inherit the knowledge and skills.
I have one small gas smoker left and will be giving it away this year. I have mailed all my recipes to my Nephews and Nieces back East but they are more interested in eating rather than cooking. I even have a recipe for BBQ Oysters and Shrimp.

And I will give you the key to it all, just because you invited me to eat and drink:

Cook it at 200 -220 for as long as it takes. Cook Fish and Seafood at 180-200 until it flakes.
Pour the smoke to it the entire time (well if you like it smokey, half that time if you don't).

Everything else is just your personal touches.

Very much appreciated for that. As for places around, I've always had good BBQ food over at Hog Wild a local place that started as a food truck, or if I'm feeling islandy I go to Roxy's Hawaii BBQ. Sadly not a lot of my favorite BBQ places made it rhrough the past 2 years or were hit real hard they just weren't the same.

😢 Yeah I remember Campbells before MAMA died. It was real down home BBQ. Best Mustard greens and potato salad, Southern style SWEET iced tea. Really good meat cooked as only Mama could get it done. It was a shame the family just didn't seem to care after she died.

All the good one don't seem to last sadly.
THAT is the truth. When I first came to Portland in the late 70's/early 80's there was a Cajun Restaurant in Northwest and a Spanish place Downtown as well as one off of Thurman in NW. Some ofthe best and most authentic food in the World. Sadly, all gone.

I got a few good Mexican places left and sadly only 1 Cajun place left. Well if you happen to make it up here we should stop by one of these places and get some good food.

Sounds like a deal. Klamath Falls idea of good food is the Waffle House and the Black Bear diner. Not bad, but like eating with a Maiden Aunt who lived alone her whole life.

Might want to try Daddy D's in Vancouver or Woodland. Means you have to come across the river to the Promised Land, but you may want to check it out.

Might have to make it a party if I get up that way. I do hear good things about the food trucks up that way. I used to eat at this awful oriental place in Vanc. It was cheap, stayed open late and was near a hot little lady I once knew who lived on "O" street?
I think it was called the "Golden Dragon"? on 4th Plain? Awful food, good egg rolls though. Used to drink at the "White Eagle" and go to the Dragon for egg rolls, then back to the Tavern for music and more. I was a younger man then....
