Energy wise 7.62x39 is what 1500fpe, vs .308 is 2700ish? That's a huge difference.

Probably depends also on ammo I would think. .308 with barrier blind rounds are very potent. I assume crims would have standard ammo though.

Check out these fbi tests. Steel: ballistic tip = 24" penetration, regular (fed gold medal) = 16.25".


Safety glass: ballistic tip = 19", reg 12.625"


I keep a magazine of barrier blind rounds for my 12.5" g3 just for this reason. Even though it's a compact gun, it has tons of power.
