Duck duck goose

First year hunting waterfowl in oregon. Is it just me or are farmers and land owners not wanting people to hunt on their properties anymore. I have had two people out of several that allow me to hunt their propety.
I normall hunt public lands for upland game bird so maybe I'm asking the people for permission the wrong way.

If anyone has tips or would let me tag along on a hunt please do tell. I'm in the Salem area currently hunting a small grass feild in stayton with light goose traffic. Also going to saint Louis ponds after work to see if I could get a duck.
