Last I heard your CHL doesn't apply to Indian Reservations, but what if you just stay on the highway driving through?

Do I need to stop and unload the firearm and lock it up?
Or can I just stay on the highway and not worry about it?

From what I have read as long as you stay off the reservation you are fine. The highway is fed/state land not Indian, just follow current laws regarding carry/transport.

Edit: Make sure that the state solely owns the highway going thru the reservation: <broken link removed>

This may or not be true, but in Warm Springs, they are responsible for law enforcement on highway 26. They handle all traffic enforcement, and their officers are sworn just like any other LEO in the State. If they have a large criminal case, they go through the Fed, who then asks for local resources if needed. If they have a large traffic related incident, then they like any other LEO agency will ask for local agencies to assist.

If you really wanted to know, I'd call the tribal PD of whatever reservation I'd be traveling through and ask a supervisor. No better place to get your answer then from the person who oversees the guy pulling you over.

Teacher with long gun slung over her shoulder!!!

A couple weeks ago we were at the casino in North Bend. I asked one of the officers there and he said as long as it was in the vehicle they had no problem with it. But going into the casino would not be allowed. He then thanked me for asking.
But that's entirely different than on the highway, driving through a reservation. As I understand it you're OK as link as you are on the highway. Stop and get out you had better leave it in the vehicle.

Yeah I never stop in warm springs. It makes me sick seeing all the drunk indians peeing away their casino check getting wasted in front of the quikie mart at the end of the strip.

That's just another community I believe should be cut off from the mother's teet and pushed to make their own way.
I have some Indian in my blood and to see what such a prideful and brave people have become is disgusting. Like many other races.

But I know if I roll through their stompin grounds packing heat they will use any excuse to throw me in jail.
Me crying that I'm 1/25th Indian from Nebraska won't save me.
