I don't like the clock changes any less that anyone else, But I do not understand why they want to make daylight savings permanent, rather than just get rid of it. Why make winter worse for a an extra hour sunlight in the season that already gets the most sunlight?

Seriously, I don't get it.

We'll see what the idiots think when it doesn't get light until 8:30 in the morning during winter.

How about "Standard Time" rather than DST?

"States can already opt out of daylight saving time and stick with standard time year-long. "

DST in the 70's

Us folks that live on the East side of a time zone are more likely to support Daylight time.
At this latitude, if the sun sets at say 8pm-ish in Seattle it already set at 7pm-ish in Spokane (rough numbers but you get the drift). (we'll take that extra hour)

And, in the winter, we get the sun earlier. Say it's rising at 7am in Spokane, it's more like 8am by the time it gets to Seattle (especially given the mountain shadow. (we'll keep the extra hour)

How could this make winter worse? It's not changing how much sunlight we get by a minute, just WHEN it happens. As someone who works nights, boo effin hoooooooo. I don't care which end it stops on, I'd just like it to stop. Never made a lick of sense.

Never really understood all the hubbub about it. Good ol' planet earth gets the same amount of sunshine regardless of what time is displayed or changed on a clock. Much ado about nothing as far as I'm concerned. :s0092:

Most people don't care which way they go just as long as they stop the nonsense of changing.

As a side note, I always wondered why we had to "spring forward" on a Sunday at 2 a.m. Why couldn't we spring forward on a Monday afternoon at 4 p.m... "Oh! 5 o'clock! Time to go home now!" :)
