I bought my one and only CZ (75BD) purley on a 'whim' with zero experience on them and and became 'convert' as well.

I was so uninformed I did not realize for a while (until someone saw a picture of mine) it was revealed to in fact BE a 75 BD as opposed to an 85B as it is marked !

I held a 97 a couple years ago and if I were thinking of a .45 ACP, and maybe 'on the fence' as to a particular model or style of a full size, all steel one I would seriously consider the CZ 97. Felt great, balanced well and I am sure shoots great!

It does shoot great. I imagine it will conceal pretty easily as well, despite being a full size pistol. Lighter than my 1911s and about the same width as my Glock 43.

No idea on the CZ 97B, though a .45 ACP CZ is tempting. I really dig the CZ-75BD I acquired earlier in the year. Fits the hand nicely, crisp trigger, good sights, 19+1 shots of 9㎜ Luger on tap; what's not to like? :D

The 97 is a nice shooting gun. Very smooth and soft shooting; I really like mine. Although I appreciated it stock, I added some upgrades from Cajun Gun Works which made it even more enjoyable for me. Also have a number of the 75 variants in both 9mm and .40. Don't have the P07, but I do have its brother, the P09. Its a good shooter also, and although I am more of a metal frame guy over polymer, I appreciate the hammer fired P series and the striker-fired P10 for what they are. If I were carrying them (I don't) vs. using for range use/plinking, I would probably appreciate the polymer framed guns more.

I really wanted one after shooting my son's EAA Witness.

I picked up a CZ 75B and an IWI 941F. Both of these shoot very well. 20200827_035412.jpg

Hmmmm, just out of curiosity, what was it about the 97 that captivated you? I used to think CZs looked like incredible guns, until I bought a 75, and it was the literally the most unreliable garbage gun I'd ever owned. I put about 200 rounds through it, and after 12 failure to eject/stovepipe issues, I just gave up and sold it.

I know a couple of the YouTube channels rave about them, but that just wasn't my experience at all. Maybe I got a lemon? Idk, but the ejection port is objectively very small.

Welcome to the forum and YES you may have gotten a rare CZ 'lemon' as they are typically above par when it comes to operation and quite frankly yours is the first I have ever heard of with this many issues.

Mine has been flawless since day one.

Were you running reloads? This CAN be an issue with CZ as they tend to have short chambers and bullet seating depth is important. I ran into this when I started to reload for my CZ.

Did you ever contact CZ about this? Or seek out any other help?

I think you did.
I like the balance, width and weight. It's been very accurate and reliable. I haven't even fully broken it in yet. Also, my FFL knows I have an affection for .45, and put it aside until I had come in because he was certain I'd want it, and he was right.
