Years ago one of those had a disclaimer on it since one of the parents had caught a cat and was shredding it to feed the chicks. Years ago a co worker lost her 2 little dogs to them here. She has warned her other half to not let the dogs into the yard unattended. He was too lazy and let them out but when he went to check they were gone. When they looked at the camera's they had they saw a couple Eagles come down and grab them for dinner.Earlier today A dead bird was being shredded and fed to the chicks.
Same around here where I live.Years ago a co worker lost her 2 little dogs to them here. She has warned her other half to not let the dogs into the yard unattended.
MANY seem to never quite grasp that to apex predators our "pets" are just "food". Often people who live where there are apex predators get all bent out of shape due to them not taking precautions. Hey if you choose to live around the predators you have to remember you chose to live where they hunt. We have a (I assume pair) of some type of large Owl that hunt here. They are amazing to watch and damn are they quiet. One night while walking one of my dogs who is too big for it one went right past my head. It was after some small critter my dog had spooked. It was amazing how quiet it was going past me like that. One of them will often perch on one of the poles the camera's are on to look for dinner.Same around here where I live.
People are warned NOT to let their little, slow moving dogs out unattended for the same reason - including the Great Horned Owls we have around here. They are huge and pretty quiet.
Oh, dude. I can't hardly believe how many 'lost dog or cat' posters I see around my area.MANY seem to never quite grasp that to apex predators our "pets" are just "food".
We have the Coyotes around us. I feed the wild rabbits so the dogs will not try to dig under my chickens fence and so far we live in semi peaceOh, dude. I can't hardly believe how many 'lost dog or cat' posters I see around my area.
Some are pretty high tec - full color, 3 X 5 and posted on poles and and signs all over.
Get this - I once saw one where the verbiage said (for a lost dog) '$500 reward - no questions asked'
I mean really ? Did they think their dog was taken hostage ?
I hate to say it but most lost animals around here are cougar or coyote chit.

Looks like a Great Grey and yes they are incredibly quiet! IIRC different outfits have studied them over the decades to figure out how they fly so quietly so they can adapt it to aircraft wings.MANY seem to never quite grasp that to apex predators our "pets" are just "food".
