Getting to the age where I feel the need to part ways with several long and hand guns from my 50+ years of collecting. What might be a good way to legally sell them off? Hope to sell them to another collector and not one by one. Just looking for ideas.
I would love a list. A few things I have been looking for..that i have no luck. Or were prices beyond my reach

In 2007 I needed to liquidate a collection of mostly Mil Surp rifles. the easiest way was through consignment. My agreement was 10 at a time, and a 70/30 split of the sale price. when I got past about 40 rifles, he lowered his price to 75/25. the FFL was able to sell off 125 rifles for me in 7 months.
He had them on his rack for a week and then online after that week. The stated reason he lowered his price was he had so many local collectors coming in every week to see what was new on the rack. Good Luck, DR

I'm in the same boat, 77 years old with a big collection. Sold a couple at gun shows and classifieds for a fair price. It's a slow process but I'm getting a fair price for them. What remains will go to my daughter. If a dealer buys a gun for say $300 you'll see it on his shelf the next day for $600.

Have a drawing and give it away to someone who's responded to this thread and who's username starts with the letter 'N'.

I bet you've never been called Late for dinner . ;)

I never sold anything until the Plague Panic buying frenzy. Then I started to move my Chinese SKSs that were dupes, parts builds or mismatched. I moved them in singles for $650 or in a bundle of 3 for $1500. The first 3 dudes bought or traded for 10. I sold a Russian, Romanian and a couple Albanians at a premium, moved 3 Belgian A5s in a bundle too. If you do it yourself, you'll realize the most ducats if that's what you're after. It's work but you're in control of all aspects of transfer, meeting and money. PAX.

Send me a list of what you have and what you price your looking at.

Remember that a dealer will usually only want your guns if he can resell them. That's why he's in business so don't be mad if he offers you only 50% or retail or less. Might be worth you while to get a table at a gun show. You'll not only have a chance to see what others will offer but you can also talk to other collectors and dealers to see what the actual selling price is at the time. Like it or not, value is not necessarily the same s current selling price.

Really depends on how quickly you need/want to move. Fast as a lot, auction house, time to make the most money, work the crowd. The genre of the weapons is a factor too. If they're all, say civil war era, start with you contacts, old buds. It's a hard sell to off all at once for good bank these days. PAX

This is why I went with consignment. I got 70 to 75% of the actual sale price. My aim was to clear them out, and the LGS that handled it for me got the going price. what ever that was I got my cut and he got his. DR

Cheesehead in our back yard is a very high end gun dealer he would consign your collection over time and sell it off for top dollar he has a pretty good reputation for selling quality firearms,
It might behove you to reach out and see what could be done.
