Can anyone tell me why high end pistol manufacturers like Kimber and Sig don't chrome line their barrels while other brands, like Beretta do?

I'd suspect (although I may be wrong) that guns used by the military have chrome lined barrels.

The chrome lined barrel should stay a bit cleaner and be easier to clean, thus the military likes it. I've heard conflicting information about accuracy, however. In any case, I wouldn't worry about it... Nice gun.

Chrome lining is usually used for ammo with corrosive primers. If anything, I would think a chrome barrel would be less accurate than a non chrome barrel is. Maybe I'm wrong though.

My guess is that it is not necessary unless you are trying to meet some arbitrary military standard.
