A lot of info on the rifle here from November 2012 in Gun Digest. The AR-7 was designed for The US Airforce as their official survival weapon for pilots.
They are extremely compact, very accurate and light weight (2 1/2 lbs.)
ArmaLite introduced the AR-7 Explorer on the American market in 1959 and made it in Costa Mesa, California.
They were offered with three colors of plastic stock: black, swirled green and brown. This one is black.
I dissembled the weapon, cleaned it and oiled the parts with Royal Purple Synthetic gun oil. There's no rust inside and nothings broken.
I didn't remove the ejector/firing pin from the bolt but they operate freely and are oiled as well.
Model # 9220
.22 LR Caliber
Semi-Automatic w/ Detachable 8 round magazine & 1 EXTRA 15? round magazine. It fits the rifle.
Comes with original box and manual.
This is an unusual rifle that's in exceptional condition. The original box...not so much.
Serial # A243753
Any questions or thoughts.. just ask.

- The early plastic stocks have a tendency to develop cracks around the front opening for the action.
- This is caused by over tightening the assembly screw when putting the gun together. As long as they are not stressed further at the cracked area, the stocks can be used for many years.
- This rifle has a crack but it looks as though it was defect in the design/mfg process. There's a picture of it.
