A 9-0 ruling by US Supreme Court vastly erodes the 4th Amendment right to limit the police accessing your home. Here is a video explaining the effect of that ruling, and some things you need to know if the police show up for some sort of Welfare Check or "Emergency."

Not responding to the knock on the door becomes a reason for the police to declare that there is an emergency, and to gain entry.

He has good advice. For sure if the cops show up at your door, tell them (without opening the door) that everything is fine, and that you are calling 911 to set up communication. The do that right away. This removes the easiest excuse that they could use.

He has several other suggestions that make watching the video worthwhile.

This is wild.

Gonna be telling which departments use this to go nuts on breaking and entering abuses.
This sucks the posterior region

I had heard a little about this, but wasn't aware of how bad it was.

I am glad I have good neighbors and while my ex-wife is unstable, I have had zero contact with her in over a decade, so I doubt she would do anything like this. That said, now I am inclined to increase the resistance to entry of my house (yes I know, they can still get in).

For years, I have held the opinion, and sometimes voice it, that the left and the right take turns at chipping away at our rights.
But which side 'precipitates' it more?

I can't help but to believe in SOME cases gun owners have been a little more 'guilty' in this arena.

How often is it said 'gun owners are their own worst enemies' ?

Very disappointing but not a surprise as the robes are not there to save us.

Does it matter?

The left wants to be our mommy, the right wants to be our daddy. They each do their thing. The politicians/"leaders"/et. al. have an agenda and it is usually to manipulate the populace in such a way that they are able to concentrate more power into a centralized government (and special interests - which include corporations), and slowly/gradually, over time remove power from the individual.

E.G., the Patriot Act; neither the left nor the right has done any real reform of this legislation that gave us secret surveillance, secret laws/rules/regulations, secret police, secret laws, secret warrants from secret courts, secret prisons, secret arrests, and gag orders to prevent people/corporations from talking about government actions against them.

Every administration/regime since then (and some before) has just increasingly trampled on our rights.
