Things I've done: worked for Naval Undersea Warfare during the Vietnam war. Studied California sport hunters and lived with Cree subsistence hunters on Canada's James Bay. Created the annual Waterfowl Subsistence Harvest Survey now standard for all Federal lands in Alaska. Commercially gillnetted for salmon on Alaska's Bristol Bay In June and July. Worked as a software engineer the rest of the year. Been married to the same woman 44 years. Helped her raise 3 kids who are now productive citizens (dentist, systems engineer, writer.) Hunted waterfowl and upland game for many years. Trained my own hunting dogs, the best of which I carried onto a Federal wildlife refuge in the dark of the night, buried her in a field where wild geese congregate. Recite my fisherman poems at Fisher Poets Gathering in Astoria. Lastly, "Camai!" means Hello in Yup'ik, the language spoken on the Yukon Delta where I once worked.

Welcome Aboard. Glad you found the forum. Great introduction.

This is the best place to hang out on the internet.

Once we're able to start using the public lands again, check out the organized clean ups. It's the best way to meet the community and learn where and how to use public lands responsibly.

[Edit- We are doing non ODFW supported cleanups at public forests] - check the North Fork Wolf Creek Road thread in resources.

Until then check out Trash No Land.
