That's an interesting early sort of automatic weapon. I haven't seen that design before. The position of the crank handle makes for awkward operation, it would seem. Even with a crew of two, aiming seems haphazard. Maybe it got better with practice.

Mentioned in the video was the Nordenfelt gun. Heavier and definitely pedestal mounted, it was more advanced. If you watch the 1966 film "Khartoum," you can see fez-wearing Egyptians operating one on a Nile gunboat.
