Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
The older I get the the more I fall out of love with the 06 family and in love with the 08 family.
If .338 Federals (guns and ammo) were readily available, I'd for sure own one by now.
What about. 270-08? Hear is a wildcat, but has yet to catch on. I'd be all over it.
I'd say the 338 Federal is a very good cartridge that just got run over and out marketed by a bazillion new cartridges. I know a guy back east (SC?) who uses it along with his son and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it.
Also, once bullet diameter climbs upward from 30 cal, the amount of buyers/users drops drastically drops. Ruger brought out a 338 RCM (and the 300), and it was a tough field to sell guns in. Almost nobody remembers them now and that was in 2008!
The best thing to happen with mid bores recently is Bill Wilson is all nuts about the 358 Winchester and is pushing it pretty hard in his NULA and Wilson Combat rifles. Since he also owns LeHigh Defense, he's making ammo, too.
Other than Marlin keeping the 35 Remington in production for so long, nobody else really supported it. Hopefully Ruger will bring it back.
